Oral,Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery

20-year-old teeth are the last 3rd molars to appear in our jaws, and they may sometimes remain embedded and not fully last.

Although it lasts in the mouth, it is the most difficult area to clean due to the fact that the 20-year-old teeth are at the back and often decays are encountered. Semi-embedded wisdom teeth that are partially visible in the mouth are the most common problematic wisdom teeth. In this case, food is trapped and accumulates in the hood-shaped gum covering a part of the tooth and eventually creates an infection.

Infection in this area leads to consequences such as swelling, severe pain radiating from the ear to the neck, enlarged lymph nodes, restricted mouth opening and difficulty swallowing. Fully impacted wisdom teeth may cause tooth decay by putting pressure on the neighboring tooth and may cause slipping and perplexity in other teeth. Considering such situations and in the presence of the above-mentioned problems, it is appropriate to extract wisdom teeth.

What should be considered after tooth extraction?
  • Eating and drinking should not be done for 2 hours after tooth extraction.
  • The tampon put in your mouth by the doctor should be bitten for half an hour and then discarded.
  • Spitting and mouth rinsing should not be done in the first 24 hours after tooth extraction.
  • Warm and grain-free foods should be consumed for 2-3 days after tooth extraction.
  • Smoking and alcohol should not be consumed for at least 24 hours after tooth extraction.
  • Tooth extraction wound should be kept clean and care should be taken not to fill any food residue into the wound.
  • 24 hours after shooting, the wound area should be carefully brushed.

Root tip surgery - Apical Resection
Apical resection is the process of removing infected tissue at the root tip. It is performed in cases where the infection or cyst canal treatment around the root tip does not heal despite the treatment. Root tip surgery is an operation that takes about 30 minutes under local anesthesia.

Sinus Lifting

As a result of this loss, sufficient bone distance may not be found for the implant. In this case, the sinus membrane is lifted upwards and the area in between is filled with bone dust (graft), so that there is sufficient bone distance for the implant.

After tooth extraction, melting occurs in the jaw bones in both horizontal and vertical directions. The sinus cavity is a membrane surrounded by the upper jaw bone. This structure causes a vertical loss in the jawbone by hanging down due to tooth extraction.

Can implantation be performed in the same session with Sinus Lifting Operation?

If the amount of bone available is sufficient to keep the implant to be fixed, the implant can be made at the same time, but in some advanced bone loss cases, it is expected 6 months after the sinus lift operation and then the implant can be made.
